Meridiana Fly’s recent announcement regarding their new route from London Gatwick to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport on Sardinia, which will start on 2nd June this year, may have awakened the desire in many British holidaymakers to start dreaming about their summer break.
While the beach-based resorts on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda are well known, tried and tested, the rural resorts are less well known and are just there to be discovered. Near the town of Arzachena, just a 30 km drive by hire car from Olbia Airport, lies the wonderful family run hotel Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru.
Offering accommodation in rustic guest suites as well as private villas with a few more creature comforts, the hotel is still only a 20 km drive from the Costa Smeralda beaches in the north-eastern corner of Sardinia.
The hotel is ideal for anyone looking for a tranquil spot. The guest suites and villas were recently refurbished to a beautiful standard – one of the villas has even its own private pool. This rural hotel is not just suitable for couples but also great for families looking for something a bit different. Once a working farm, the main house and assortment of farm buildings now ooze rustic charm and relaxation.
A restaurant with friendly service and a la carte menu offers mainly local fare. As the hotel is located in fairly close proximity to one of Sardinia’s most important archaeological sites, there’s plenty to do and see on the doorstep, but the beaches are so close by that a short drive by hire car will feel like a welcome distraction from all that laziness by the pool!
Meridiana Fly plans to operate the new flights on Saturdays throughout this summer. The flights will depart London Gatwick at 11.25 am and will arrive at Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport at 02.45 pm.
